3. Biography: Former Vice President Al Gore is the Co-founder and Chairman of Generation Investment Management, former Co-founder and Chairman of Current TV, a Member of the Board of Directors of Apple Computer, Inc., and a Senior Advisor to Google, Inc. Gore is also Visiting Professor at Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

Gore is the author of The Assault on Reason and An Inconvenient Truth, which is also the subject of a feature documentary with the same title. In 2007, An Inconvenient Truth was awarded two Academy Awards for Best Documentary Feature and Best Original Song. He was also the recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007.

He has been a leading advocate for confronting the threat of global warming, outlining his effort to call attention to this hot-button issue in his 1992 best-selling book Earth in the Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit.

After graduation, Gore volunteered to enlist in the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War. Upon his return from his tour in Vietnam, Gore became an investigative reporter with The Tennessean newspaper in Nashville.
