Terry McDermott, born in Iowa, has been a news correspondent at eight different newspapers over the past 30 years.
He was most recently a national news correspondent for the Los Angeles Times where he was assigned to investigate the background of Mohamed Atta, one of the 911hijackers. That assignment led him to travel to 20 countries on four continents over a three year period.
Prior to his career as a journalist, he worked as a carpenter and as a political campaign manager.
